Isn't detailing just car washing?
The International Detailing Association (IDA) describes detailing as: "Detailing involves a thorough cleaning and reconditioning of both the interior and exterior of your vehicle. It is a meticulous step-by-step process to restore your vehicle's beauty and protect your investment". The trend of detailing videos on social media has caused many to offer basic car washing under the banner of 'detailing'. It is important to understand what service you are paying for and discuss your expectations prior. We offer full detail packages, which are very time-consuming, to ensure we clean and condition your vehicle back to its original state. In some cases, it could take over 24 hours if deep cleaning of fabrics is required to ensure they are fully dry. We only use the highest quality automotive products that are safe for your vehicle's surfaces and provide a beautiful finish. You won't find any household cleaners, 'wash and wax' soaps or glossy silicone oil dressings in our services. We will discuss any concerns with you during the process and encourage you to discuss your expectations prior. This way we can ensure we address any areas you highlight during your detail or advise if further work is necessary. We believe it's more important to master your art rather than offer a broad range of services poorly. We have chosen to specialise in the maintenance of coatings; for this reason, we may not perform all services requested, such as full paint correction or ceramic coatings. We may refer you to a specialist in those areas or even coordinate that for you in tandem with our service.
Why detail a new car?
Taking ownership of a new car is the best time to build a relationship with a detailer. Just like regular servicing of your engine, regular detailing will help keep the vehicle in new condition throughout its lifespan. It's quite often a misconception that new vehicles don't need detailing. Sitting outside in shipping yards and dealerships for months is far from an ideal treatment of the paintwork. We often see glue remnants from shipping protection, contaminant build-up from storage and swirls and scratches from the spray and wipe over 'clean' before delivery. Correcting these issues early and applying a protective coating is the best measure to keep it sparkling like new long through ownership. Many will seek a detailer for older vehicles when it is beyond restoration. Unfortunately, only so much can be done after damage and wear are evident.
Do you offer interior-only cleaning?
No, Interior cleaning is offered as part of a package. We find that people ask for interior-only cleaning when it's grossly contaminated. Detailing isn't for cleaning your mess, it is expected that you provide the vehicle free from loose belongings, rubbish, heavy dirt and sand and bodily fluids (gross). We offer maintenance washes (regular valet or exterior-only valet) to help keep your vehicle in optimal condition after a detail. We don't offer these to new customers as they may not meet your expectations of a 'detail'. These are to maintain your vehicle regularly, not to recondition it.
